Textile Pottery Basket Class

Make beautiful fabric bowls for home decor and gifts.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Advanced beginner: Comfortable using sewing machine.
Requirements: Sewing machine that does zig zag cleaned and oiled. (Don't forget the foot pedal) Feet for machine we will be using an open toe foot. Basic sewing supplies. Scissors, seam ripper, rotary cutter etc. Clothes pins or plastic sewing clips. Glue stick Stiletto or purple thang or what you use for help guiding fabric close to needle. Needles I use Schmetz needles universal or sharps. 14,16 if you have an assorted pack bring to class sometimes smaller needles work best. Clothesline 3/16 100ft. Linda has clothes line at shop. 100 ft will make two medium size baskets. Thread cotton or poly will work. The shop has some great variegated threads. Fabric for your project 3/4 yard of one color or multi colors. Before class - Wind 3 bobbins Cut fabric into 3/4 inch strips either on the bias or straight cut. Bias cut will fray less but both ways work great. Don't cut all your fabric cut about 15 strips. During class we will talk about Embellishing your baskets with fabric, button and beads. Instructor Bio: My name is Cheri Watkins I have been quilting since the early 80's. I've always been interested in working with fabric and creating beautiful projects. I've taught quilt classes in Florida and North Carolina and have taught at Western Carolina at their symposium. I now live in Wimberley to be close to family and am enjoying being here.
